Local traffic on Amager is affected by the BMX World Championships

The championships will be held from 28 July to 3 August at the National Elite Centre’s BMX track, Ved Slusen 2, 2300 Copenhagen S. Up to 3,500 riders from all over the world will compete on the track while an international audience cheers from the stands.

In the days leading up to the World Championships, which take place on 2 -3 August, Challenges and Master races are held on the track, where children from 8 years old up to well-driving seniors are on the bikes.

The activities in the area – preparation and dismantling – will take place from 14 July to 8 August and will affect local traffic.

Barriers affecting traffic

Artillerivej and Ved Slusen will be closed to car traffic and Artillerivej will also be closed to cycling from Friday 25 July to Sunday 3 August. Cyclists are referred to the path on Amager Fælled, which runs along Artillerivej.

Artillerivej is closed between Hf. Sønderbro and Vejlands Allé. Only cars associated with the world championships will have access to the cordoned-off area. It will still be possible to drive in and out of Hf. Sønderbro

At Slusen will be open for errands to the area located by the harbour and Stiboderne.

Changes to public transport

Local bus services are affected. Therefore, please refer to rejseplanen.dk.

Access to and from the championship area

Parking will be very limited, so it is recommended to take the Metro to either Sluseholm, Sundby or Bella Center and walk the rest of the way

The nearest parking – for a fee – is the Royal Golf Center and Bella Centret, located approximately one and a half kilometres from the course.

If possible, hop on your bike – there will be extended bike parking in the area.
